Mozambique 2011. This visit to Mozambique was organised Wild Frontiers. It was a Dhow island hopping trip in the Quirimbas Archipelago off the north coast of Mozambique. Flying to Pemba in Mozambique was the worst part of the trip as it involved twelve hours in Nairobi airport. This was soon forgotten as we drove north from Pemba to reach Mocojo, an isolated village on the coast. We met our Dhow and were soon on our way to our first island Mogundula. This privately owned island is uninhabited and we were soon allocated our tents and sat down to lunch. Our last night on this island was New Year's Eve and we celebrated beside a fire on the beach looking at the African Sky. The following pages tell the story in pictures as we made camp in three other locations before staying in two luxury Lodges. Then it was another long drive back to Pemba and home. At the end I have included as usual my list of Birds seen during the trip. For a more complete list of the birds of Africa click here.
